Fraud Notice – Misuse of Adams Street Name by Unaffiliated Persons

Adams Street Partners is recognized as one of the most respected and experienced private markets investment managers in the industry.

Persons carrying out fraudulent schemes will sometimes misuse Adams Street Partners’ name and brand, as well as the publicly available profiles of its employees and personnel, to mislead victims into believing that they are receiving communications, investment guidance and/or investment services from Adams Street Partners or its personnel.

These fraudsters will often contact individuals via social media, messaging platforms (such as WhatsApp or WeChat), texting campaigns or other communication methods to gather personal information or solicit payments of money. Fraudsters may also set up fake websites which display the Adams Street Partners logo, or which are otherwise presented as being legitimate Adams Street Partners webpages, for these purposes.

Identifying Fraud

In considering whether a communication you have received is potentially fraudulent, please remember that:

  • Adams Street Partners does not engage directly or offer investment advice, investment guidance and/or investment services (such as separately managed accounts (SMAs)) to retail customers and/or the general public;
  • Adams Street Partners will never provide investment services (such as SMAs) directly to retail customers and/or the general public;
  • Adams Street Partners (or any Adams Street Partners personnel acting on its behalf) will never provide investment advice or guidance to individuals and retail customers via social media or other messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or WeChat;
  • Adams Street Partners (or Adams Street Partners personnel on its behalf) will never create or engage in any group messaging platforms (such as WhatsApp or WeChat group chats) for the purpose of discussing investment opportunities and strategies or providing investment advice;
  • Adams Street Partners will never make investment products or services directly available to individuals via the website and will never ask individuals to transfer money via the website.

Germany

Adams Street Partners has become aware of a recent scheme in Germany whereby individuals are being messaged on the WhatsApp messaging platform by persons falsely representing themselves as Adams Street Partners representatives.

A website misappropriating the Adams Street Partners logo and brand, and which appears to be connected to the fraudulent WhatsApp group described above, has also been set up in German (with the domain asppeglobal-pro.com), and is purporting to offer investment services from Adams Street Partners to individuals.

Southeast Asia

Adams Street Partners has become aware of a recent scheme in which individuals are being messaged on the WhatsApp messaging platform by persons falsely representing themselves as representatives of Adams Street Partners Singapore Pte. Ltd.. At least one of the phone numbers associated with this scheme is based in Indonesia.

Making a Report

If you believe you have been targeted by fraudulent activity or have fallen victim to such a scheme, please contact your local law enforcement authorities.

We also encourage you to make use of the WhatsApp and/or WeChat “Report” function (as applicable) to flag any suspicious chats or contacts to WhatsApp and/or WeChat (as applicable) directly.
