Working With the Right Companies

Adams Street Partners’ Direct Team invests $5-20 million in companies seeking venture capital or growth equity to commercialize their products or provide partial liquidity for founders.  Since 1989, Adams Street has made over 100 of these investments.  While Adams Street seeks to lead these transactions, it has no control requirements as most investments are minority positions; Adams Street seeks to work with companies that have experienced management teams, unique products and services, and scalable, capital-efficient business models chasing large or changing markets.  Specifically, the Direct Team is seeking to partner with management teams whose companies meet the following criteria:

• Industry

  life sciences (biopharmaceuticals and medical devices), technology (software, systems and components), and technology-enabled services

• Stage

  seeking a first or later round of institutional capital

• Amount of capital

  seeking $5-20 million

• Geography

  selling predominantly to customers in the U.S.

• Revenue/profit

  no minimum threshold

• Control

  no control requirements
